Let's rise together! WE RISE 2022 is a series of community-led events that support health and healing across Los Angeles County. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and, as the ripple effects of the pandemic, social injustice and global pressures continue, now is the time to come together. In partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, we bring our initiative Creating Our Next LA to you.

Share your vision for a brighter and more equitable future for Los Angeles! The centerpiece of Creating Our Next LA takes root in Grand Park over the month of May. Comprised of 71 live oak trees, the installation demonstrates the commitment it will take to make a truly resilient, healthy, and equitable Next LA. In addition, LA Commons is hosting public activations through May in the neighborhoods of Leimert Park, Exposition Park, Boyle Heights and Skid Row. "Creating Our Next LA" is a public art activation that transforms Olive Court at Grand Park into an urban forest of the community's own making and evolves over the course of May as the public contributes to the exhibition as an essential aspect of recovery and civic participation. This temporary abstract forest acknowledges the highly altered context of downtown Los Angeles where the urban environment collides with nature and serves as the starting point for rethinking a healthier, more equitable future for all.
